Les Jacobins (or the Couvent des Jacobins de Toulouse)is one of the most beautiful Gothic churches ever built. The lines are high and pure and unobstructed, ending in fantastic arches and the windows are magnificent. Everything is made of colored and painted marble, in paled pastels. St.Thomas Aquinas, to whom the church is dedicated, is in a chest on an altar in the middle of the church, for real.
The church is part of an ensemble church and monastery, with a courtyard surrounded on four sides by arcades connecting it. The monastery was founded by St.Dominic in 1215, and the Universite of Toulouse was established in the same walls in 1229. (That's my alma mater.) Here are a few pictures.
